Man reportedly shot in Lower Hutt

A man has been reportedly shot in Lower Hutt. 

Wellington District Police posted on Facebook that a man had a gunshot wound on Pharazyn St, Melling. 

"The victim has been taken to hospital and his injury is not life-threatening," the post said. 

Police said they have recovered a firearm. 

They did not consider the incident a threat to the public.
