SPCA's National Rescue Unit came to aide of an injured penguin stranded in Wellington Harbour yesterday.
The small penguin was floating in the water down at Wellington's waterfront yesterday when the SPCA came to the rescue, plucking out of the water in a net.
Writing about the rescue on their Facebook page the National Rescue Unit said it took a few hours to rescue the penguin.
"But was well worth it to see the little guy saved."
The penguin is now in the care of the Wellington Zoo, an SPCA spokesperson told 1 NEWS.
It's now in the incubator at the zoo's animal hospital, The Nest Te Kōhanga and has been given fluids and pain relief.
A spokesperson from the Wellington Zoo told 1 NEWS, they will examine the penguin's injured flipper today and do a full health check in the next day or so to determine what needs to be done.
