Cyclist killed in serious crash near Hastings

Police say a cyclist is dead after a collision with a car near Hastings today.

The cyclist was the only one hurt in the crash, which happened at the intersection of Omahu Road and State Highway 50A at 10.15am.

The road will be closed for some time and motorists are asked to avoid the area.

The Serious Crash Unit has been notified and will investigate.
