Auckland's Tamaki Drive has reopened this morning after it was closed for a time overnight due to surface flooding.

The high tide, combined with severe winds lashing the city, saw sea water spilling onto the waterfront road after dark, Thursday night.

The road was closed last night but has reopened this morning.
