Rainfall across much of NZ set to ruin last week's sun and blues skies but warm temperatures continue

Last week's high temperatures will remain but without the completely clear blue skies for much of the country today.

Showers are expected in Auckland this afternoon, though temperatures will remain in the mid-twenties. Auckland and Hamilton will both enjoy 25 degrees. 

It's going to be a wet day in Bay of Plenty with heavy showers forecast and a chance of thunderstorms this afternoon.

Hawke's Bay will also enjoy warm temperatures but are warned of showers in the afternoon.

Wellington has a high of 22 degrees and some light rain. 

A fine is forecast for the top half of the South Island with Christchurch hitting expected to hit 29 degrees and Blenheim a sweltering 30 degrees.

Metservice has issued a severe weather watch for Fiordland with the possibility fo 100mm of rain in the 24 hours until 8pm today.
