Kiwi teams wrap up final day of Track Cycling World Cup with pair of golden performances

December 11, 2017

The final day of the UCI Track Cycling World Cup in Chile has produced more Kiwi success with the men's team pursuiters winning the gold medal ride-off against Japan.

The New Zealand team, comprised of Nick Kergozou, Jared Gray and Campbell Stewart, were never really threatened in the final, nearly lapping the Japanese riders before the finish line.

Eighteen-year old Harry Waine was also bought into the men's team to allow Tom Sexton to concentrate on the four event omnium competition.

The women's Madison duo of Racquel Sheath and Michaela Drummond came away with gold as well.

There was a bit more luck involved in their win though after they managed to dodge an ugly mid-race crash.

They claimed first place after beating rivals Denmark by six points.
