A driver who fled police in Hamilton stopped mid-chase to drop off his child.
Police signalled a Nissan car to stop in Dinsdale about 10.30am today, but the 59-year-old driver didn't do so.
At one point the driver stopped, let out his young child at a family member's home and then continued to drive on.
He was finally stopped on Quail Place and was arrested and charged with driving offences.
"The officer involved in this incident was amazed that the man chose not to stop initially when he had his child in the car," says Senior Sergeant Phil Ruddell.
The man was very lucky there were no tragic consequences, which could happen if a driver chose not to stop for police, Mr Ruddell said.
