Watch: Waikato Police drive home Christmas road safety message in 'CopCar Karaoke'

Waikato Police have put a fresh spin on 'Carpool Karaoke' with their own 'CopCar Karaoke' to drive home the need for road safety over the festive season.

A police video posted on YouTube is headed 'We want you here for Christmas'.

The video stars Constable Jack Driver bringing UK talkshow host James Corden's 'Carpool Karaoke' segment closer to home.

Constable Driver and Hamilton Central Police Station staff deliver their own lip-synced rendition of Mariah Carey's Christmas classic 'All I Want for Christmas is You'.

Waikato police have been told to look for alternatives to issuing tickets for traffic offences, Stuff reports.

The video follows the success of the New Zealand Police recruitment video which went viral last month.
