A Palmerston North man with muscular dystrophy has been working the whole year to light up his house for locals to enjoy this Christmas.

Even though Aaron Collins' condition leaves him bed bound, he has managed to create an amazing festive light display using his computer for help.

"Gives me something to do than being stuck in bed all the time," Mr Collins said.

His muscular dystrophy means most of his muscles don't work and he's worn a ventilator for 11 years to keep himself alive.

"I just like seeing people happy and if I'm able to do something and see people happy, yeah I rather enjoy it," he said.

This year's display is certain to light up a few smiles on local residents' faces.
