British rock legend Rod Stewart rolled back the years overnight NZT with a surprise performance of Handbags and Gladrags at London's Piccadilly Circus.
In front a spellbound crowd, Stewart - who began his musical career playing on the streets of London - joined busker Henry Facey for an acoustic performance of the hit song.
The 72-year-old's impromptu appearance was to promote the November 13 unveiling of The Adoration Trilogy - Searching for Apollo legacy photograph at the Victoria and Albert Museum.
The project - a collaboration between The Who's Roger Daltry and photographer Alistair Morrison - features over 60 musical legends pictured as street performers.
Measuring a sizeable 4 x 5 meters, the photograph is valued at 6.5 million US Dollars. In addition to the original, a limited number of master prints will also be on sale.
Purchasers of the pieces will be asked to donate to Daltry's charities Teenage Cancer Trust and Teen Cancer America
