Black Caps coach Mike Hesson hasn't ruled out a return to the international squad for Jesse Ryder, noting anyone playing well in first-class cricket is in with a chance.

Hesson was asked by media today what chance Ryder stood considering his recent string of impressive performances for the Central Stags.

"I think anyone who is performing in domestic cricket is in the mix," Hesson said.

"Obviously, I saw the Central Districts game against Otago a couple of weeks ago and had a close-up look at a number of players and Jesse was in that game."

However, Hesson noted there is one issue holding the 33-year-old back.

"If he keeps performing, certainly he's not fully fit at the moment from a mobility point of view so that would be something that needs to be improved."
