Man critically hurt after falling 50m at Whangarei Falls

A man is in a critical condition after falling 50 metres at Paranui Falls in Whangarei this afternoon.

A St John ambulance spokesperson says the man has fallen from a 50 meter cliff.

Police Inspector Andy Brill has confirmed to 1 NEWS that Northland police are in attendance at the scene, alongside fire and ambulance services.

The emergency crews are awaiting a Northland Emergency Services helicopter to transfer the patient to Whangarei Hospital.

“He is currently in a critical condition” said Inspector Brill.
