Growing Maori prosperity enriches all, Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern told the Federation of Maori Authorities annual conference in Rotorua.
There's a big Government turnout at the conference this weekend with Crown-Maori Relations Minister Kelvin Davis there along with Trade Minister David Parker.
Foma represents about 150 Maori authorities with a collective asset base of $11 billion with interests largely in primary industries.
"I believe in the idea of investing in people and when we do that we are all better off," Ms Ardern said.
She talked about the Labour-led Government's commitment to regional development and to the forestry sector.
The Treaty of Waitangi must be at the heart of the Crown-Maori relationship but the relationship had been anchored to the negotiating table, she said.
She said she had created a portfolio for Crown-Maori Relations for the first time.
"My vision is that we as a country realise the promise of the Treaty."
She talked about a post-Treaty-settlement era.
"I don't want us to rest until we actually have a country where Maori and non-Maori equally enjoy a shared success."
She sought a true partnership in every sense of the word.
The Maori Party failed to win any seats at September's election. Labour holds all the Maori seats.
