All Blacks rookie Rieko Ioane has thanked his teammates, having been nominated for World Rugby's Player and Breakthrough Player of the Year awards.

Ioane, 20, has shone in 2017, ousting Julian Savea to take a stranglehold of the left wing spot, with his hot form seeing him held up among the best in the world.

Speaking to media today, Ioane was quick to shift the praise over to his teammates, rather than focus solely on himself.

"It was pretty surprising I guess," he said.

"Full credit to the team, they've done a huge job in helping me get there."
