US pop sensation Khalid sat down with Seven Sharp's Tim Wilson for an exclusive interview while on tour in New Zealand.
Fresh out of high school, the 19-year-old has been called the voice of a generation, and he has a Kiwi connection which helped him attain success.
Khalid's smash hit Young Dumb and Broke was co-written by Kiwi Joel Little, the music producer who helped unleash Lorde.
"Joel Little and I have this certain chemistry we have when we work together. I mean, we've made some of my favourite songs off the album. 'Young, Dumb and Broke' is a big song we made," Khalid said.
New Zealand's the first country where 'Young, Dumb and Broke' went gold.
The US singer also has a good relationship, not just with the adoring Kiwi public, but also our pop royalty.
"Lorde is awesome. She's amazing. She's so talented. We went on tour in Europe and it was the greatest time of my life."

"Just seeing her perform and learning a lot about her mannerisms on stage, and how I can influence my own performance was awesome, it was a great learning experience," Khalid said.
The Kiwi connections meaning we're likely to see more of the singer on our shores in the future.
