Georgian fullback Soso Matiashvili has put his hand up as a front-runner for try of the year after his unbelievable score in his side's 54-22 win over Canada in Tbilisi yesterday.
Matiashvili racked up 29 points on his own in the win but his most brilliant moment came late when he opted to kick the ball on halfway in the 68th minute.
The 24-year-old chased hard after the bouncing ball, surging past all Canadian defenders as it rolled into the in-goal area.
The ball looked to be heading for the dead ball line when Matiashvili dived for it with his left hand to touch it down before it reached the chalk.
Matiashvili slammed into the sponsorship barrier after his dive but immediately got up to appeal to the referee to check upstairs about his attempt at scoring.
His passionate appeal paid off, with replays showing he somehow touched the ball down millimetres from the line.
Matiashvili also scored four penalties and six conversions in the match.
