Group of seven charged after person assaulted in Christchurch Burger King car park

Seven people, aged between 20 and 55, have been charged with rioting after a person was assaulted in a Christchurch Burger King car park yesterday evening.

The alleged assault took place in the Belfast car park on Main South Road shortly before 5.15pm yesterday.

"Police have now determined the incident was between parties who are known to each other," police said in a statement this morning.

The group will appear in the Christchurch District Court within the next week.
