The All Whites can hold their heads high after the 0-0 draw in the first leg of the intercontinental play-off with Peru in Wellington yesterday, says coach Anthony Hudson.
New Zealand's footballers will now head to the Peruvian capital Lima for the return fixture on Thursday.
The All Whites may just need a draw to seal a spot in next year's World Cup in Russia.
Provided the Kiwis score in the match they will go through to Russia on away goals.
Speaking at today's press conference, Hudson was beaming with his team's performance.
"The players are pleased," he said.
"Rightly so, they should feel very proud of themselves.
"Everyone's in a good place."
