The Kiwi teenager at the centre of police kidnap allegations has spoken for the first time about his fear of being locked up for statutory rape.
The 19-year-old is giving evidence at the trial of two officers charged with unlawfully detaining him in 2015.
The youth, whose identity is suppressed, was 17-years-old when Inspector Hurimoana Dennis and Sergeant Vaughan Perry allegedly threatened him over his relationship with a 15-year-old girl.
"The officer said you know if you want to end up getting raped in prison this is how you are going to go about it by making the wrong decision like what you are doing," the teenager said.
Officer Dennis knew the teen's family and at their request had earlier warned him about the relationship.
Then in May 2015 the teenager was taken to Auckland Central Police Station for questioning.
"He said to me I could either go to Australia, or option two, he would take me downstairs and I would be charged with statutory rape.
"He said I'd serve a minimum of 14 years, it was at that point I was really scared," the 19-year-old said.
Earlier in the day a police staffer changed his evidence to concede he knew a mock arrest was taking place.
The trial is currently ongoing.
