Raw video: Fruit truck lies in mangled wreck after plunging 10 metres off narrow gorge road near Paeroa

One person is lucky to have escaped a truck accident in the Karangahake Gorge between the Coromandel Peninsula and the Kaimai Range on SH2 with only minor injuries.

A fire spokesperson says the truck and trailer fell 10 metres down a bank into Ohinemuri River.

Emergency services were called at 5am today. 

Contractors are on site and will close the road at 10pm to remove the truck.

Transport insurers are also on site and the serious crash unit is investigating.

Produce is spilling from the split curtain of the truck.
