"Several thousand dollars" has been donated to the SPCA since Jacinda Ardern posted a heartfelt tribute message on social media to Paddles after her cat tragically died after being hit by a car on Tuesday.
In her short life as New Zealand's most powerful feline, Paddles was catapulted to international stardom.
The Prime Minister took to Instagram yesterday, posting a photo of Paddles and saying he was "much loved, and not just by us."
"Thanks for everyone's thoughts. And on behalf of Paddles, please be kind to the SPCA. They found her before we did, and we will always be grateful for that," Ms Ardern wrote.
Since the post, a SPCA spokesperson told 1 NEWS there had been six times the normal amount donated online yesterday "because of people being so generous and giving in the memory of Paddles."
