A grinning Wyatt Crockett thinks he's cracked the case on why the All Blacks are short of top-end loosehead props at the moment - they don't get paid as much.
Crockett was asked by media this morning why he thinks there were so many more No.3 specialists in professional New Zealand rugby than No.1s.
The 34-year-old loosehead had an answer ready.
"Tightheads get paid more! Pretty sure they do!" he said.
After a laugh with media about the issue he gave a more serious answer, hinting the next generation of looseheads were in the wings.
"I actually think there are a lot of good looseheads coming through and it's just a matter of those guys getting those opportunities," he said.
"You've obviously seen Kane [Hames] come in this year and do really well and you've got Tim [Perry] here now as well and he just needs more opportunities to prove what he's got as well."
