All Whites striker Jeremy Brockie has said that he always believed he would return to the New Zealand side, having been recalled for the two-legged Intercontinental play-off with Peru.
In recent times, Brockie, 30, has found himself down the pecking order of the All Whites' forward options, with the likes of Chris Wood and Monty Patterson preferred in front of goal.
However, coach Anthony Hudson has recalled Brockie for the two-legged tie, with the former Wellington Phoenix striker's experience in World Cup play-off's a key factor.
Speaking to media today, Brockie spoke about his return to the international fold.
"The gaffer rung me a few weeks ago and said that I've made the final 23 for the World Cup qualifiers," he said.
"I'm over the moon really, I love playing for my country."
"I never gave up hope that I'd get another chance."
