A female American football fan has been viciously punched in the face by a US cop while being evicted from a college football game yesterday.
Video of the shocking incident, that took place during a Virginia Tech and Miami game, shows Bridget Freitas, 30, attempting to resist being thrown out, before four officers hoist her onto their shoulders carrying her out of the stadium.
The fan then lashes out at officer Douglas Ross with a weak open palmed slap, the much bigger man then punches her straight in the face, causing her head to rock back after the blow.
The watching crowd reacts with gasps, obviously shocked at the incident.
Many people commented their disgust at the officer's actions on Twitter after video of the incident was posted.
"He was no danger. She was already restrained. As the president would say 'he knew what he signed up for,'" AJB tweeted.
"That girl just won a lawsuit courtesy of this video," wrote another.
Not everyone disagreed with the officer's actions though as Lucas Davis tweeted "Please. She assaulted him while he was doing his job. If this were a man that got rocked for doing the same thing nothing would be said."
Ms Freitas, 30, was arrested on charges of battery on a law enforcement officer and disorderly conduct after the incident and has since been released.
Miami Dade police are looking into the officer involved but police union President John Rivera said from what he has seen of the video, Mr Ross was justified in striking the woman.
