Watch: Worst tackle of the year? Young footballer flies directly into opponent's leg with horrible studs-up slide tackle

A young footballer somehow wasn't given a red card in a league match after delivering one of the worst slide tackles in history.

The Fenerbache player, Gurkan Baaskan, made the horrid tackle in an U17s match against Galatasaray in Istanbul this morning. 

Baaskan slid directly at his rival's legs with his feet up, showing no intent for intercepting the ball as he plowed into his opponent.

The shocking lunge from the Fenerbahce youngster could easily have broken his rival's leg, yet somehow the referee only awarded a yellow card for the incident.

He may have been let off for showing some remorse and apologising to his opposite after the collision.

Galatasaray went on to win the match 2-0.
