Drones have literally taken off as a consumer item for the PlayStation generation over the past couple of years but there are strict rules around their operation.

Two drones were reported flying near Auckland Airport last night, spurring police to warn users to comply with Civil Aviation rules. 

The first was reported to police at 9pm, flying at 1000ft and was said to have interfered with the approach of an incoming flight.

The other was reported to have been flying at 700ft in controlled airspace.
