A 26-year-old man has been arrested following an armed police operation in the Auckland suburb of Pakuranga overnight. 

Officers responded to calls from a woman involved in a domestic incident after she had fled her home with minor injuries. 

Senior Sergeant Pete Mattiott said police arrived armed as a precaution. 

"While approaching the house the man has tried to run away and subsequently been detained."
