'Knife or sharp object' used in Hamilton attack that puts three in hospital

Hamilton Police are investigating a serious assault that caused three people to be admitted to hospital early today. 

The incident took place at 1.30am outside Hood Street bar between two groups of people. 

Detective Sergeant Andre Kavanagh said the altercation resulted in all three members of one group being admitted to Waikato Hospital with injuries.

Police believe their injuries were caused by a "knife or sharp object".

"All three have since been discharged," Mr Kavanagh said in a statement this evening. 

The offenders left the area shortly after the altercation in a blue Ford Falcon vehicle that was parked outside the Square Leg bar on Hood Street, he said.
