Video: Car lies wrecked on road in aftermath of fatal Canterbury crash

One person has died, and four others injured, after a three vehicle crash on Waimate Highway (SH1) in the Canterbury town of Morven this afternoon.

Of the four other people involved in the crash, two are seriously injured and two moderately injured.

One of those seriously injured has been airlifted to Dunedin Hospital and the other three have been transported to Timaru Hospital.

SH1 is expected to be closed for several hours while the Serious Crash Unit investigates.

Morven is 50 kilometres south of Timaru.
