Three people killed in series of crashes across the country

Emergency services were kept busy overnight following a number of car crashes across the country. 

A serious crash in Maruia in the Tasman District around 9pm last night left one person dead and six people injured.

One of those injured was flown to Christchurch Hospital in a serious condition.

The other occupants remain in a serious and moderate conditions.

Two helicopters and four ambulances were in attendance at the scene of the crash.

Meanwhile in Kumeu, Waitemata one car collided with a tree killing both occupants.

One person has been left in a critical condition after a single vehicle crash on State Highway One just outside of Te Horo, Kapiti Coast around 10pm.

All accidents are being investigated by the serious crash unit.
