Kiwis utility Peta Hiku has spoken about playing in a more united side, as New Zealand prepare for their second match of this year's Rugby League World Cup match against Scotland in Christchurch this weekend.

Following the exile of star players Jesse Bromwich and Kevin Proctor for their roles in an alleged cocaine scandal after this year's Anzac Test againt Australia in Canberra, the Kiwis are putting on a united front in this year's tournament, determined to succeed under coach David Kidwell.

Speaking to media, Hiku spoke about being part of the current side, saying everyone has bought into the new coaching style.

"It's more just getting everyone comfortable with how we want to play," he said.

"I suppose it's just a lot more energy, everyones on the same page with everything."
