America's Ambassador to New Zealand has confirmed he has been counselled on standards of conduct following an incident at an official function in Samoa.
Yesterday Scott Brown told 1 NEWS he wasn't being investigated over his behaviour at the event, where it's alleged he made inappropriate comments.
He subsequently confirmed a US State Department inquiry had taken place with investigators sent to Wellington.
Mr Brown says he just told some female guests they looked beautiful.
The story's been widely reported overseas, including in the New York Times.
1 NEWS understands the Office of the Inspector General sent investigators to Samoa and Wellington after July's incident. (Source: Other)
