Kiwi MMA fighter Dan 'The Hangman' Hooker has been named on the main card of the UFC 219 event and will fight for the first time in Las Vegas when he takes on up and coming UFC prospect Marc Diakiese in December.

Hooker, 27, believes his match-up against Britain's Diakiese will be a crowd favourite fight.

"He's a really exciting fight, he's got a lot of knockouts I've got a lot of knockouts - it's a big one for the fans," said Hooker.

"It's my first fight in Vegas, I've fought in the States before but Las Vegas is a mecca of combat sports.

"So it's an exciting opportunity and it's one for the bucket list to tick off I guess."

The New Zealand lightweight fighter had an impressive outing in June, earning performance of the night honours after knocking out his English opponent Ross Pearson with a ruthless knee to the head in the second round at UFC Fight Night in Auckland.

"I treat them all like my last fight – I put everything, every ounce of sweat and blood in every camp."

Hooker is set to fight on December 30 with the main event fight still yet to be announced.
