"Hello for the last time from the Prime Minister's Office," a cheerful Bill English begins, going on to say he'll leave the Beehive at 9am tomorrow and hand in his resignation as PM at Government House, before the new Government is sworn in.
"It's been a pleasure and a privilege to lead the Government in the last nine months and be part of the National Government for the last nine years, as the decisions made in this office and through the Beehive have helped us build a more confident, more aspirational and more outward looking New Zealand," he says.
"And I want to thank all of you for your support through that time in Government, through our campaign, and particularly for the warmth of your support and good wishes in the last week since the decision to change the Government last Thursday."
Mr English goes on to say National will be moving into the opposition offices at the weekend, "getting organised to be a strong and positive opposition".
