Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud has taken home FIFA's Puskas Award for best goal in London this morning, after his dramatic scorpion kick against Crystal Palace in January.
Giroud, 31, miraculously turned in a cross from Alexis Sanchez goalwards using the back of his heel, beating Palace keeper Wayne Hennessey for a sensational goal as Arsenal came away 2-0 winners.
Speaking after his award, the France nternational thanked his teammates, family and fans for their support.
"It is an honour for me. I am delighted to win this trophy in front of legends of football," he said.
"Thanks to everyone who voted for me. All the nominees were amazing goals.
"Thanks to my teammates, without them I couldn’t have scored. I want to dedicate this trophy to my dad."
Giroud was presented the award by former Manchester United striker, Diego Forlan.
