A trio of criminals armed with workshop tools including a hatchet, a hammer and a screwdriver robbed a Hamilton superette on Saturday.
Police say the incident took place about 8.20am, when three males entered the Kingsway Superette on Prisk Street in Hamilton.
They threatened the shopkeeper and stole an unknown amount of cigarettes and cash before fleeing in a stolen vehicle driven by an unknown female.
The first offender was armed with a yellow-handled hatchet, and was wearing a white t-shirt, light grey hoodie, black gloves, black shoes and a G Shock or similar watch.
The second had on a dark hoodie, dark cap, a black cap with New Zealand on the brim, dark long pants and black Nike shoes with a white sole and stripe.
He was armed with a yellow-handled hammer and was carrying a black cooler-type bag.
The third male was armed with a screwdriver and was dressed in a dark hoodie, light grey track pants and had blue material across his face.
His shoes were Nike with black stripes and he was carrying a black backpack.
The trio were driven by an unkownn Maori or Polynesian woman described as being of large build and aged about 20 years.
The car was found a short time later on the corner of O'Regan and Collins Roads.
