Despite the tight-lipped coalition negotiations NZ First has been holding with Labour and National, Winston Peters revealed foreign ownership was among the issues that would be discussed.
"The extraction of our ownership to foreign interests… is the continuing story of this country's decline since the 14th of July, 1984."

That was the day former National Prime Minister Robert Muldoon held a snap election, losing dismally to Labour's David Lange.

"But these talks are about a change in the way our country is run both economically and socially," Mr Peters said.
Emerging from talks with National, he said the meeting "was great, like every meeting has been".

He is scheduled to meet with Labour this afternoon, after their discussions with the Green Party.
It won't be his only meetings with the parties today, with negotiations expected to go into the night.
He said he was discussing similar policies with both parties, but he wouldn't discuss the details.
"It's not a game of tennis or ping-pong. It's different discussions with different parties."
He said no negotiations would take place with the Green Party.
Mr Peters is still on track for a decision on Thursday, but he said NZ First are trying to "ensure we give all sides a fair hearing".
