US Vice President Mike Pence has left a NFL game abruptly after some players knelt in protest against police brutality while the national anthem was playing.
Mr Pence released a statement saying he would not "dignify any event that disrespects our soldiers, our flag, or our national anthem" by staying at the Indianapolis Colts game today.
"At a time when so many Americans are inspiring our nation with their courage, resolve, and resilience, now, more than ever, we should rally around our flag and everything that unites us."
US president Donald Trump tweeted that he asked Mr Pence to leave the stadium if players knelt down during the anthem, saying they were "disrespecting our country".
"I am proud of him and @SecondLady Karen," he said.
