Sonny Bill Williams is adamant he won't be getting sent off anymore thanks to improvements he has made in his tackling technique, although he does admit a short trip to the sin bin could still be on the cards.

Williams became just the third All Black in history to be red carded in a game after after his shoulder made contact with winger Anthony Watson's head in a no-arms tackle in the first half of the second Test of the Lions tour, leaving the All Blacks down to 14 men for over an hour.

The 32-year-old served a short suspension for the hit but has since stayed out of trouble, playing in all five Rugby Championship Tests without issue.

Williams also took a cheeky dig at Crotty after he supposedly beat him in this morning's power session. (Source: Other)

The All Black centre joked with reporters in South Africa today ahead of the team's Test against the Springboks in Cape Town on Sunday morning it was due to his efforts to improve his technique.

"I've gone back and worked hard on my tackle technique," he said.

"I feel like I've made steps in the right direction to make sure I don't get a red card - maybe a yellow!"

The All Blacks coach wasn't playing games when he was asked for specifics about the team's mental game. (Source: Other)

Williams has been named to start at second-five for Sunday's game kicking off at 4am NZT.
