All Whites defender Winston Reid has taken a light-hearted jab at national teammate Chris Wood ahead of their first Premier League clash next week.

Reid's West Ham United will play Wood and the in-form Burnley at Turf Moor next Sunday morning NZT.

The national captain began the banter with the former Leeds striker when the team headed to Japan this week for their friendly match tomorrow night.

"I've been joking that I'm going to kick him on the flight back home," Reid said.

Wood, who has scored twice in five Premier League appearances since his transfer to the the club at the start of this season, said he was simply focused on the job at hand in Nagoya before worrying about anything or anyone else.

"I've played with Winnie for a number of years now and he's a very good player, but they have 10 other great players in their starting lineup when it does get round to it, but we're not focusing on that just yet. We're looking to get a result come Friday."

The All Whites play Japan tomorrow at 11.30pm NZT.
