Silver Ferns nab decisive victory against Scotland

Silver Fern Maddy Gordon

The Silver Ferns' 80-48 win against the Scottish Thistles in Glasgow this morning earned them a clean sweep of the two-Test series.

Shooter Grace Nweke and midcourter Maddy Gordon returned to the line-up, delivering strong performances that resulted in a 44-27 scoreboard at halftime.

Gordon earned player of the match for her efforts.

Both sides struggled with unforced errors in the second half, but the visitors maintained a healthy lead throughout.

Martina Salmon on goal shoot and Amelia Walmsley on goal attack proved to be a powerful combination in the fourth quarter as they advanced the Silver Ferns' score.

Scotland was kept at bay, bowing to the pressure with only seven points in the final quarter.

The Silver Ferns are now gearing up for a more challenging three-Test series against England starting on Sunday morning (NZ time).

The tour comes amid the saga surrounding head coach Dame Noelene Taurua, who has been reinstated after being stood down following complaints from some players, but isn't on the tour.
