Body found in Lake Wānaka identified

Police recovered a body from Lake Wānaka, near Waterfall Creek this morning, and have since identified the body.

Earlier today, police asked for help in identifying the person.

"Police would like to hear from anyone in the area who has family or friends that haven’t returned home," police said at the time.

The person was described as a Caucasian male likely in their 20s.

Police have thanked the public for their assistance.
